The full Smart Serve online course costs $44.95 CAD and includes two test attempts. AGCO lists the same figure, with no HST on top.

That is the whole price for most people. The fees that surprise people come later: a third attempt after two fails, or a recertification left until after the certificate expired.

This guide lists every published price, what each one includes, and how to keep your total at $44.95.

What each Smart Serve course costs

What you are buyingPriceWhat it includes
Full online course$44.9530 days of access and two test attempts
Retail online course$24.95The shorter retail program with its 20 question test
Recertification, certificate still valid$29.95The full course again, with two test attempts
Recertification after your certificate expired$44.95The full course at its standard price
Employer Online Course Token$44.95 eachOne course with two test attempts

Retail workers may take either the full program or the retail program, so the cheaper option is not automatically the right one. Ask your employer which they expect before you pay. Our Smart Serve certification guide sets out who needs certification and when.

What the $44.95 actually buys

Your purchase covers four things:

  • 30 days of access to the training, which expires after that whether you used it or not.
  • Self-paced study inside those 30 days, with your progress saved.
  • Two attempts at the proctored final test of 33 multiple choice questions.
  • A digital eCertificate in your My Results tab once you pass, valid for 5 years from the date of issue.

The pass mark is 80% or higher with no test rule infractions, which is 27 of 33 questions. Our Smart Serve test guide walks through the whole session, from webcam ID verification to results.

Warning before you buy: the fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. Buy when you have time in the next few weeks to finish, not to hold a place.

The real cost of failing twice

Two attempts come with your purchase, so a single fail costs you nothing extra. The bill arrives on the third attempt.

After two failed attempts you must repurchase the course and complete it again to get another two attempts. That is $44.95 for the second purchase, and it takes your total to $89.90. The repurchase appears in the Store tab of your account, and Smart Serve asks you to allow about 30 minutes for the status to update.

PathWhat you payTotal
Pass on attempt one or two$44.95$44.95
Fail twice, repurchase, then pass$44.95 plus $44.95$89.90

That table is the strongest argument for studying before you buy. Our post on what to do after a failed test covers how to use the second attempt well.

Recertification costs less if you act early

Certificates are valid for 5 years from the date of issue, and the price of renewing depends entirely on timing.

If your certificate is still valid, you recertify online for a reduced fee of $29.95. Once it expires, the full cost of $44.95 applies. The saving is $15, and the only thing standing between the two prices is a calendar reminder.

Recertification is the full course, and it also includes two test attempts. Passing issues a new eCertificate with a 5-year expiry date. Our Smart Serve recertification guide covers the process, and how to check your expiry date shows you where to find yours.

What study materials cost

Nothing in the $44.95 obliges you to buy study material. You can read the course inside your 30 days and sit the test without spending another dollar.

Practice questions are where the money usually goes, and they are the part that moves a score. You can start free: our Smart Serve course is free to read, and our free practice test needs no account or email. A full mock test matches the real one at 33 questions with a pass mark of 27.

Full access to the whole question bank and every mock exam is a separate paid product from us, priced on our pricing page. It buys you practice, not certification.

How to keep your total at $44.95

Three habits do the work:

  1. Study before you buy. Free material costs nothing and your 30 days have not started yet.
  2. Sit a full mock test and clear 27 out of 33 comfortably before you pay Smart Serve.
  3. Diarise your expiry date the day you pass, so you recertify at $29.95 rather than $44.95.

Study Smart Serve is an independent study aid and sells no certification. Smart Serve sets and collects the fees above at smartserve.ca, and AGCO publishes the course fee on its training page. Prices change, so confirm the current fee before you buy.
