Smart Serve Practice Test: Free Questions With Explanations

A Smart Serve practice test asks you the kind of question the real test asks, before you pay for anything. You pick an answer, you find out whether it was right, and you read a short explanation. You can start with a free 20 question test, with no account and no email.

Your attempts at the real test are limited, so practice earns its place. The full Smart Serve course costs $44.95 CAD and includes two attempts at the final test. Use both without passing and you buy the course again for another two. Practice questions cost you nothing.

The final test asks 33 multiple choice questions, and the system generates them at random. You need 80% or higher to pass, which means 27 correct out of 33. A proctor watches through your webcam while you answer. This page covers what the test asks, why practice comes first, and where to get free questions.

What a Smart Serve practice test is

A practice test is a set of questions written in the format of the real test, with the answer explained once you commit to it. It is study material. Finishing one does not certify you, and it does not replace the official course.

Study Smart Serve is an independent study aid. You buy the official course from Smart Serve and sit the proctored final test with them. Our questions cover the part before that, while a wrong answer still costs you nothing.

The bank holds 450 questions across the five subject areas the training covers. Every question gives you four choices and a written explanation, and the explanation says why each wrong choice fails. All 18 practice tests sit on one page, and every question appears in exactly one test, so you never meet a repeat.

Question quality decides whether your hours pay off. Read five explanations before you trust any question bank, because the explanation is the part you read hundreds of times.

  • A short situation to judge, rather than a definition to recite.
  • Four answer choices, with wrong ones that match real mistakes.
  • A written explanation on every question, including why the wrong choices fail.
  • A tag showing which of the five subject areas the question came from.
  • Enough questions that you work the answer out instead of remembering it.

Why practice comes before the course

Each purchase of the full course includes two attempts at the final test. That is your whole budget. After two failures you repurchase the course, complete it again, and get another two attempts.

A flagged proctoring session costs an attempt as well. Smart Serve states that if the proctor flags your session for a violation, you lose the attempt, even if you passed the test. So an attempt can go without a single wrong answer.

Course access expires 30 days after purchase, and you cannot open the training or the final test after that. Practice here runs on no clock. Get your scores steady first, then buy the course and work through it in one clean run.

Timing matters when a job is waiting. Smart Serve states that anyone selling, serving, delivering or sampling alcohol must complete the training prior to their first day. The buying steps, the ID check and the proctoring rules are set out on the Smart Serve test page.

  • $44.95 CAD for the full online course, with two test attempts included.
  • After two failed attempts you buy the course again for another two.
  • A flagged proctoring violation costs an attempt, even on a passing score.
  • Course access ends 30 days after you buy it.

What the real Smart Serve test looks like

Smart Serve publishes the format of the final test. It asks 33 multiple choice questions, generated at random. A certificate needs a score of 80% or higher and no test rule infractions. On 33 questions, 27 correct is the lowest passing score.

The test has no time limit. Smart Serve puts the average at about 30 minutes, and you stay in camera view from the moment you start. You launch it yourself, any hour of any day, with no appointment to book.

Before the test launches you show valid government issued photo identification to the camera. A working webcam and microphone are required. All final tests are proctored, with no exceptions.

When you finish, you get a list of the questions you answered incorrectly. You do not get the correct answers, so a failed attempt teaches you very little by itself. A Smart Serve mock test closes that gap, because it uses the same 33 question shape and explains every answer.

  • 33 multiple choice questions, generated at random.
  • 80% or higher to pass, which is 27 of 33.
  • No time limit, and about 30 minutes on average.
  • Webcam ID verification and screen monitoring throughout.
  • Valid government issued photo ID before the test launches.
  • Available to launch any hour, 7 days a week, with no appointment.

How to split your practice across the topics

The training runs five subject areas, and the question bank follows the same five with the same weights. Smart Serve does not publish a topic breakdown for the final test. These weights describe the course, so use them to plan your study rather than to predict your paper.

Laws and liability and responsible service carry the most weight at 25% each, so they earn the most of your time. Delivery and special situations is the smallest at 10% and the quickest to cover.

Let your own scores adjust the mix after the first test. If checking ID comes out strong and refusal does not, move questions across. Each area has lessons behind it. The free course runs 14 lessons across 5 modules, written to pair with the questions one topic at a time.

  • Alcohol and the Body: 20% of the course.
  • Laws and Liability: 25% of the course.
  • Checking ID and Minors: 20% of the course.
  • Responsible Service and Refusal: 25% of the course.
  • Delivery and Special Situations: 10% of the course.

Free Smart Serve practice tests you can start now

You can answer exam-style questions here without paying or signing up. The free practice test runs 20 questions drawn from all five subject areas. It marks each answer as you go and shows the explanation immediately.

The full set of practice tests sits on one page, weighted the same way as the course. Tests 1 to 4 need no sign up. The rest need a free account, which also saves your progress between your phone and your desk.

The written course is free to read with no account. Work a module, then take the practice test that covers it. The study tools page lists every free tool in one place.

Full access adds the rest of the bank, all 450 questions, plus the 5 mock exams and score tracking. It costs $7.99 a week, or $49.99 once for unlimited access, and the pricing page sets out both. The same bank runs in the mobile app. Study Smart Serve is new, so this page carries no ratings and no student numbers. Answer 20 free questions and judge the writing yourself.

How to work through a practice test

Answer first, then check. Reading the four choices before you have your own answer lets their wording lead you. Decide what you think, then look at the options.

Read the explanation even when you were right. A guess between two choices that both looked fine hides a gap, and that gap comes back on test day.

Turn each miss into a topic rather than a question. If checking ID lands on your list three times, read that lesson in the course and work the area until it stops appearing.

When your topic scores are even and you clear 80% on tests you have not seen, sit a full 33 question run. The mock test guide explains what that run should feel like. What a pass gives you is on the certification page, and keeping the certificate current is on the recertification page.

  • Answer the whole test before you check any of it.
  • Read the explanation on every question, including the ones you got right.
  • Write each miss down as a topic, not as a single question.
  • Come back to that topic two days later.
  • Sit a full 33 question mock once your topic scores are even.
  • Buy the course when 80% stops feeling like a good day.

Frequently asked questions

How many questions are on the Smart Serve test?

The full online course ends with a final test of 33 multiple choice questions, generated at random. You need 80% or higher to pass, which is 27 correct. The retail course has its own shorter test of 20 questions. The full format is on the Smart Serve test page.

Is there a free Smart Serve practice test?

Yes. The 20 question practice test needs no account and no email. Practice tests 1 to 4 also need no sign up, and the 14 lesson course is free to read.

Do practice questions match the real Smart Serve questions?

No study provider has the real questions. Smart Serve does not release them, and the final test builds its 33 questions at random. Good practice questions match the format and follow the same subject areas as the training. Treat any provider that claims to have the real test questions as a warning sign.

How many attempts do you get at the Smart Serve test?

Two per purchase. The full course costs $44.95 CAD and includes two attempts at the final test. After two failures you buy the course again for another two. A proctor flag also costs an attempt, even on an attempt you passed. The Smart Serve test guide sets out how the proctored test runs.

What practice score means you are ready to buy the course?

Aim for 80% or higher on tests you have not seen before, with no subject area trailing the others. The final test needs 80% or higher and no test rule infractions. Several steady results beat one high score, because a single test can draw easy questions. A full 33 question mock test is the last check.

What happens after you pass the Smart Serve test?

Your eCertificate appears in the My Results tab of your Smart Serve account. Allow about 2 hours after the test for the proctor review and the certificate. Certificates are valid for 5 years from the date of issue. Who needs one is covered on the certification guide, and renewing before it expires is covered on the recertification guide.
